About me
I'm Clyde defensor, an automotive/motorsports photographer based out of Kitchener, Ontario. Cars are the thing for me --- the sights, the sounds, all of it --- and photography is how I hold onto that. I started shooting cars in 2021 and added motorsports in 2023, and I've kept doing both ever since. Working the two sides feeds into each other --- live racing teaches you to work fast and not miss the shot, while private work allows you to slow down and get every detail right.
i shoot as media for the Canadian drift series (CDS), covering grassroots and pro drifting. I also shoot time attack and drifting at CSCS events, where I am trackside as part of the media presence. Both series run at Toronto Motorsports Park, which has become my home circuit and where I've built extensive experience across both disciplines. I have also documented the IMSA WeatherTech Championship at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (CTMP). Working live motorsports --- high speeds, changing light, and no room for a second attempt has built a discipline that carries into everything else i shoot.
A big part of my experience also comes from private shoots. Shooting cars ranging from a dodge viper acr, morgan 4/4, 992 GT3 RS, to R35 GTR's, Attention to detail is extremely important. as one of my specialties, car-to-car rolling shots is something i take pride in doing, running coordinated passes to get clean motion, and the right spacing. My priority is a natural result: honest colour, true light, and the car represented as it genuinely appears rather than over-processed.
For teams and owners, what i bring is reliability, an eye for how a car should be shown, and photos that do it justice.
